The renovations at Sills Hall consisted of a complete removal of the entire mechanical systems and architectural features. Sills Hall was largely original from its initial construction in the 1950’s. The new mechanical system uses a central roof mounted chiller for cooling and a steam to hot water heat exchanger for heating. Fresh air is provided to the building through two dedicated outside air units mounted on the roof.

The complex architectural features of the new buildout made for some significant challenges to run the distribution piping and ductwork throughout the building. The terminal units are 4 pipe fan coils to provided individual heating and cooling zoning to the classrooms, offices and common spaces.
